Four more 'Transformers' movies in the works over the next ten years

  So much for that promised Age of Extinction.
Forces in Hollywood are plotting four “Transformers” movies, Hasbro Studios president Steven Davis announced, promising the multiplex will be filled with giant battling robots for at least the next ten years.
“You’re going to see a new “Transformers”movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners," Davis told the crowd at Saturday’s Mipcom.

"So stay tuned, 'Transformers 5' is on its way," said Davis, pausing before adding, "and 6 and 7 and 8

  There is plenty of financial incentive to keep the well-oiled box office machine going: the first four “Transformers” movies, chronicling the battle between the Autobots and the nefarious Decepticons, grossed $3.8 billion worldwide at the box office.
For Paramount, it’s also a franchise that can compete financially and in Comic Con clout with the big super hero properties of rivals Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothers.


  Critics and many disgruntled fans, though, felt there wasn’t much more than meets the eye to those first four Michael Bay-directed movies. It’s unclear whether either Bay would return behind the camera or Mark Wahlberg, star of last year’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” would return in front of it.

Bay has previously said he would not return to direct for a fifth installment.

The best movies and TV to prepare for Halloween — even if you hate horror

I love October. The leaves turn orange and red; the baseball playoffs fill weeknights, and football devours weekends; I celebrate my birthday and my wedding anniversary; the outdoors smell like barbecue and beer and bonfires; and all of the festivities are affixed with grinning skeletons and pumpkins of Halloween.




Every year, to celebrate my favorite holiday in my favorite month, I take the October calendar and assign a Halloween-friendly movie or television show to every day. My wife and I do our best to stick closely to the schedule, without letting it control our free time. If we miss something, we’ll catch it next year.
This October, I decided to share the calendar, along with some helpful context:
First, and foremost, most of the films and television shows are family-friendly — or at least teenager friendly — unless marked otherwise. My wife faints at that site of extreme gore, and I am allergic to jump scares, so this is the rare Halloween list with few modern horror movies.

Second, I've included a substantial amount of The Simpsons, for three reasons: 1) The "Treehouse of Horror" specials are excellent. 2) Monday night is Monday Night Football, so I've scheduled the specials because they're short and sweet and can be packed in before bed, and 3) after watching The Simpsons on Monday night, you'll probably be like, "Wow, The Simpsons used to be so good, I'd love to watch another episode," which is why I made time for that on Tuesday evening.
Third, the list is a starting point. Feel free to modify what I've included, or create your own calendar. I'm leaving the comments section open so we can share our favorite Halloween shows and films with each other.

You'll Be Getting New 'Transformers' Movies for the Next Decade

Hasbro chief Steven J. Davis confirmed in a Q&A that a Transformers 5, 6, 7 and 8 are in the works at a Q&A at Mipcom.

“We just finished, as some of you may have read, just an incredible experience,” he said. “We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time.”

“Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and written a bunch of great movies,” he went on. “And they plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

Paramount, the studio behind the action movies, previously confirmed that the Transformers universe was expanding with sequels and spinoffs, with Goldsman spearheading the writers room. However, the only confirmed sequel was Transformers 5, which Goldsman is writing.

Others in the Transformers universe writers room include Black Hawk Downscribe Ken Nolan, Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer, Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, Zak Penn, Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Jeff Pinkner, Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Transformers 5 has not chosen a director yet, and Michael Bay tweeted last month that he has not signed on to helm the sequel, saying that he has “not committed to any idea as of yet.”

Bay directed Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth in the series and the first one without Shia Labeouf. It starred Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz and, despite losing Labeouf, grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.

Dark’ Disney Princess Series Is Scarily Excellent Halloween Costume Inspiration

Beware, fairy tale fans — you’ll never look at the heroines of classic Disney movies the same way after seeing how artist Jeffrey Thomas envisions them.

The cartoonist and character designer has thrust maidens like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Princess Jasmine, and tons of others into a much darker, creepier world. As in, if the zombies from The Walking Dead bit every single Disney princess, this is what might happen. Don’t show these ladies to the kids, because they practically guarantee nightmares.

The drawings are unsettling and spooky, but we can’t look away. Nor can we ignore the little voice in our head that immediately says, “Ooh, what a great Halloween costume idea!”

So what’s it gonna be? Deranged Belle from Beauty and the Beast? Zombie-fied Ariel from The Little Mermaid? Killer Pocahontas?

It’s a far cry from the usual “sexy” costume renditions of Disney characters that get trotted out every year, and that’s a relief … kinda. Because done right, a costume modeled after one of these babes is gonna scare your friends silly.

Who Watches The Watchmen? A Possible New Series Might Just Give You That Job

Alan Moore's comic book masterpiece, "Watchmen" rocked the medium to it's core when it was first released, and remains one of the most renowned comic stories of all time. The book considered what would have happened if costumed vigilantes and superheroes actually existed in the years leading up to the cold war. The series was originally released in 12 issues back in the mid 80s, and has maintained it's status as a must read for comic book and superhero fans everywhere. The Watchmen hit the silver screen in 2009 to mixed reviews, and now the heroes may be returning on a slightly smaller screen.

"Watchmen" May Be Getting It's Own Series

Zack Snyder has reportedly been in talks with HBO about creating a "Watchmen" television series. The 2009 film version of the graphic novel launched Snyder's career with DC, since directing that movie he has gone on to work on 2013's "Man of Steel" and the upcoming "Batman v Superman." While some fans remain wary of Snyder's abilities, you can't argue that he has a passion for the subject matter of all of his projects.

A Show Like This Wouldn't Be Short On "Human Bean Juice"

As of now nothing is official, so there's no word on whether the series would follow the same storyline the movie was based off of. The series could potentially be based off of the "Before Watchmen" prequel miniseries series DC produced in 2012. Another possibility would be an as of yet unexplored sequel to the events of "Watchmen." Moore has been very vocal about having zero interest in working on any adaptations or continuations of the original series, so you could probably safely assume he won't be involved with the project.
